Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical care for ear, nose, throat and head-and-neck disorders under Consultant governance, managing appropriate cases within granted privileges and escalating complex/high-risk decisions promptly.
• Undertake advanced assessment and management related to otologic, rhinologic and laryngologic assessment within granted privileges, seeking Consultant input when complexity or risk exceeds the approved scope.
• Apply advanced clinical reasoning to nasal and laryngeal endoscopy, formulate evidence-based plans and confirm Consultant review for high-risk or uncertain cases.
• Perform or participate in common ENT surgical procedures within privileges within demonstrated competency and granted privileges, obtaining Consultant involvement at the required level.
• Recognize and initiate management of complications associated with airway, epistaxis and ENT emergency management, escalating promptly to the responsible Consultant when indicated.
• Coordinate investigations, treatment response and follow-up related to hearing, balance and voice-related diagnostic pathways, ensuring continuity and clear multidisciplinary communication.
• Provide advanced assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of patients within the specialty under the clinical governance of the Consultant team and within granted privileges.
• Manage common and moderately complex cases with appropriate autonomy, and promptly escalate high-risk, unstable, diagnostically uncertain or privilege-limited cases to the responsible Consultant.
• Request and interpret specialty-appropriate investigations and implement approved management plans, documenting the clinical reasoning and response to treatment.
• Perform specialty procedures for which competency and clinical privileges have been granted, seeking Consultant involvement when complexity or patient risk exceeds the approved scope.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care and ensure timely referrals, handovers, discharge planning and continuity of care.
• Recognize clinical deterioration, initiate immediate stabilization within competence, and promptly involve the Consultant or emergency response team as indicated.
• Prescribe and monitor medications safely and perform medication reconciliation within the approved prescribing scope.
• Maintain complete, accurate and timely medical records, procedure notes, orders, results follow-up and discharge documentation.
• Apply infection-prevention, patient-safety, procedural-safety and clinical-risk controls in all assigned clinical activities.
• Support clinical teaching and day-to-day guidance of Registrars, Residents and interns as delegated, without exceeding the assigned supervisory authority.
• Participate in audit, case review, morbidity and mortality meetings, quality improvement and implementation of evidence- based clinical pathways.
• Maintain continuing professional development, current SCFHS registration, credentialing and clinical privileges required for the role.
• Perform any other duties and responsibilities within the scope of the position, professional knowledge and competencies, and approved clinical privileges, as assigned by the Line Manager.

Requirements

Education: Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of relevant structured specialty training and clinical experience after internship, including
Licenses: Valid Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) professional classification and registration appropriate to the ENT
Special requirements: Ability to work scheduled shifts and service hours according to operational requirements. Physical and cognitive ability to safely perform the essential clinical functions and procedures of the role.

• Strong knowledge of current evidence-based principles, diagnostic pathways and treatment standards relevant to ear, nose, throat and head-and-neck disorders.
• Knowledge and applied clinical competency in otologic, rhinologic and laryngologic assessment appropriate to the Senior Registrar level and granted privileges.
