About the role

The Job position directs the lab operating procedures and provides reports in the Histopathology section by ensuring quality and productivity to the end results within the specified time frame.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibility
• Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of Histopathological results obtained through the diagnostic testing of samples using automated or computer aided testing procedures.
• Diagnose diseases or study medical conditions using techniques like gross pathology, histopathology, cytopathology.
• Obtain specimen by performing procedures like fine needle aspiration of superficial nodules.
• Communicate pathological findings to surgeon or other clinicians.
• Ensuring that quality checks of testing equipment are carried out, following up on the equipment maintenance check and making sure that testing conditions are accurately calibrated and kept constant at all times.
• Develop and implement the standard operating procedures in the Histopathology section in accordance with Thumbay Labs diagnostics guidelines.
• Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of proficiency testing surveys or alternate performance assessments.
• Ensuring method validation studies are completed and submitted to the laboratory director for approval and participation in new test development process.
• Ensure the effective operation within the assigned section, through supervision of technical and support personnel.
• Manage and ensure the assigned personnel follow the standard operating procedures, to meet the expected turn- around- time and pertinent quality indicators.
• Ensure critical results are informed to the clinicians with priority and recorded to support patient care.
• Supervise equipment maintenance upkeep, storage facilities, bio-safety, waste management and documentation activities in the section for a robust work environment.
• Ensure cost effective and optimum utilization of resources within the scope of work in line with the business objectives.
• Keep abreast on the subject and environment changes and/or innovation in the field, through continued medical education.
• Provide updates and recommendation to the line of authority, about the domain work improvements such as technological and manpower needs.
• Conduct initial competency assessment of technicians to ensure capability to perform job under takings.
• Monitor, review the competence and performance of functional teams and provide feedback to employees for improved performance.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and proficiency testing.
• Provide administrative support in the pertinent areas to meet with the organization objectives.
• Provide guidance and assistance in the area of specialization to the associated personnel for effective operations.
Secondary Responsibility
• Maintain professional conduct with internal and external customers for a robust working environment.
• Ensure adequate focus on personal professional growth relevant to taking on more challenging assignments.
• Attend training for self-development.
• Participate in the performance evaluation system.
• Perform other duties as and when assigned based on the requirement.
