Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts orientations for students regarding laboratories’ policy and procedure, required educational resources and safety precautions and emergency protocols.
• Updates laboratory policies and practices under the supervision of the program director.
• Ensures readiness of the laboratory area and equipment prior to sessions.
• Informs laboratory manager on required supplies and equipment’s needed for training.
• Ensures safe storage of hazardous materials, including chemical reagents.
• Supervises gathering and disposing of laboratory waste materials according to safety/infection control regulations.
• Schedules the use of the lab equipment according to the needs of different groups of students.
• Supervises general cleaning procedures in the laboratory.
• Ensures working status of laboratory equipment before and after each session.
• Contributes to maintaining a safe environment in the laboratory and becomes aware of updated safety regulations.
• Provides students feedback on their academic progress and laboratory skills.
• Provides extra sessions for students who require additional learning support.
• Utilizes appropriate teaching methods that promote students’ critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making skills.
• Ensures proper handling of laboratory equipment by students during the practice sessions.
• Ensures a conducive learning environment within the laboratory.
• Works in improving and updating knowledge and skills through participating in continuous academic and professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.
