Position Summary
The CSSD Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices. This vital role ensures strict compliance with international infection control guidelines to safeguard patient care.
Core Responsibilities
- Decontamination: Disassemble, sort, and clean surgical instruments and medical equipment using manual or mechanical methods.
- Assembly & Packaging: Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality, then assemble and wrap instrument trays according to specific lists.
- Sterilization: Operate and monitor autoclaves, chemical sterilizers, and biological indicators to ensure total sterilization efficacy.
- Inventory Control: Monitor, store, and distribute sterile supplies to the Operating Theatre and various hospital departments.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain meticulous records of sterilization cycles, maintenance logs, and tracking documentation.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Certification in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) technology or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of proven experience in a hospital-based CSSD setting.
- License: Active DHA License or DHA Eligibility Letter as a CSSD Technician.
- Competencies: Deep understanding of infection control policies, sterilization validation, and surgical tracking software.
