Summary
As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality food while maintaining Hyatt's culinary standards, food safety requirements, and hygiene practices. You will work closely with the Chef de Partie and the wider culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver the Hyatt brand promise and provide exceptional guest service to both external and internal customers at all times.
Prepare, cook, and present food items according to Hyatt standards, established recipes, and presentation guidelines.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods.
Support daily kitchen operations by preparing and ensuring efficient workflow within the assigned section.
Accommodate special guest requests whenever possible while maintaining quality and operational standards.
Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, portioning, and presentation.
Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and HACCP standards in all food handling and preparation activities.
Minimize food waste and contribute to achieving departmental food cost objectives.
Stay informed about seasonal ingredients and new products available in the market.
Maintain assigned workstations, kitchen equipment, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
Handle equipment and supplies with care to minimize damage and wastage.
Ensure all Hyatt brand standards, operational procedures, Touches of Hyatt, and Food & Beverage initiatives are implemented consistently.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and other departments in the spirit of "We work through Teams."
Build and maintain positive working relationships across all areas of the hotel.
Support operational requirements and assist in other sections or departments when required to meet business and guest service needs.
Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
