Position Summary

The Field Finance Manager will serve as a critical ally to our General Manager, providing the financial infrastructure and strategic support necessary for market expansion. This role is a blend of strategic partnership and hands-on operational finance. Initially, you will be instrumental in setting up business operations during the expansion phase, establishing the processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that will scale with our growth. Following the establishment of the market, you will act as a vital resource for the local GM and a primary link to the corporate finance department, aiding in the clarification of forecast variances and driving the planning cycle.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you will have a key support role, ensuring that local leadership has the data and financial oversight needed to optimize performance.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Business Partnering

  • Serve as the primary financial ally to Regional General Managers, providing data-driven insights to support market expansion and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with GMs to create and manage regional financial statements, accurate forecasts, and detailed budgets.

  • Provide ad hoc reporting and performance analysis to help regional teams meet their operational and financial targets.

  • Act as the bridge between regional operations and central finance, ensuring alignment on corporate goals and reporting standards.

Foundational Operations & Setup

  • Lead the initial financial setup of new regional entities, including establishing local financial processes.

  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for financial management and reporting at the field level.

  • Manage transactional work across Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) during the initial startup phase and vendor onboarding.

  • Oversee the implementation and local management of financial systems to ensure data integrity and streamlined reporting.

Business Partnering

  • Support the evaluation of new market investment opportunities and fleet optimization initiatives.

  • Translate physical regional KPIs (e.g., vehicles on road, utilization rates) into financial projections and actionable insights.

  • Identify regional trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.

  • Work with the corporate finance team to aid during the planning and forecasting process.

Qualifications

Experience & Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related quantitative field; MBA or CFA a plus

  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in finance, with a preference for field finance, regional management, or operational finance roles.

  • Strong command of Excel and Google Sheets financial modeling and scenario planning

  • Ability to build financial models from scratch

  • Forecasting and budgeting experience

  • Mastery of advanced Excel functions: INDEX/MATCH, dynamic arrays, XLOOKUP, and Power Query

  • Proficiency with BI tools and financial planning systems; VBA, Python, or SQL for automating data pulls is a plus

Skills & Competencies:

  • Deep understanding of operational drivers in transportation technology and on-demand platforms, familiarity with metrics such as cost per mile, utilization, and AV operational performance

  • Financial storytelling: ability to distill complex data into actionable insights and communicate effectively with leadership

  • Knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting as it flows through financial models, accruals, depreciation, and three-statement linkage

  • Strong cross-functional communication, equally comfortable presenting to leadership and working through operational data with a fleet manager

  • Self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment

  • High ownership mindset: you identify what the business needs to know and build the analysis without waiting for direction
