Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of the in-patients admitted in ward. (both elective and emergency services/ both medical and surgical cases based on the ward assigned)
- Provide advice and care for patients admitted to hospital wards under the respective specialty.
- The work also involves managing patients with co-morbidities (ie complex medical problems involving multiple symptoms and conditions), including elderly patients.
- Carries out management of Medical emergencies within the Hospital as part of the MET Call protocol.
- Responsible for the work up of clinical cases admitted in the ward which includes both initial assessment and reassessment.
- Carries out ward rounds to meet patients ensuring the implementation of the appropriate diagnostic investigations and treatments as per the advice given by the treating physician.
- Conducts periodic review of patient management in consultation with the treating physician.
- Ensure the required pre-operative or pre-procedural preparations are done for the patient as per the standard operating protocol.
- Carries out patient and family members counselling as required. Responsible to ensure the informed consent are in place as per protocol.
- Monitor the blood transfusion services as and when needed.
- Coordinate with the patient, family members and other support service departments like insurance/ patient affairs department for smooth functioning.
- Responsible to prepare the medical report, discharge summary/clinical summary/LAMA Summary for in patients as applicable and within the stipulated timeline.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and cooperate in the proper functioning of the department.
