Job Description
- Carry out general handyman, repair, painting, and maintenance works throughout the hotel.
- Perform painting and touch-up works in guest rooms, corridors, public areas, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas.
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, filling, scraping, patching, and cleaning before painting.
- Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, and general repair works as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete assigned work orders within the required timeframe.
- Inspect walls, ceilings, doors, fixtures, furniture, and other areas for damage and defects.
- Support the Engineering team with preventive maintenance, refurbishment, and renovation projects.
- Ensure all painting and repair work meets the hotel’s quality, appearance, and brand standards.
- Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, and guest areas while carrying out maintenance or painting works.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow all hotel health, safety, fire, environmental, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Report major defects, safety hazards, equipment issues, and additional maintenance requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Demonstrate the “Yes I Can!” attitude by providing friendly, responsive, and solution-focused service to guests and team members.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Handyman, Painter, Maintenance Technician, or similar role, preferably in a 5-star hotel.
- Strong practical knowledge of painting, surface preparation, and finishing techniques.
- Good knowledge of general building maintenance and minor repair works.
- Practical skills in basic carpentry, plumbing, tiling, plastering, and other handyman tasks.
- Ability to carry out high-quality painting and touch-up works with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of different types of paints, primers, coatings, and appropriate application methods.
- Ability to identify maintenance defects and carry out suitable repairs.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
- Ability to safely handle and store paints, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multicultural Engineering team.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and after-hours when required.
- Strong commitment to the “Yes I Can!” service philosophy and maintaining the high standards expected in a 5-star hotel.
