Role Overview
Café KIRA is looking for an experienced and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our team for the opening of our new concept. Building on the culinary identity and high standards of KIRA Restaurant, KIRA Café will offer a dynamic, high-volume dining experience where quality, consistency, creativity, and attention to detail are essential.
We are looking for a strong culinary professional with previous experience in a Junior Sous Chef position, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Chef and Senior Sous Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain KIRA's high standards of food quality, presentation, consistency, and kitchen organization.
- Supervise daily preparation and service, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Assist the senior culinary team in training, mentoring, and developing junior chefs, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Lead by example, demonstrating strong culinary techniques, discipline, attention to detail, and professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards.
- Support inventory management, stock rotation, waste control, and food cost optimization.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining recipes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational standards.
- Work closely with the senior culinary team to maintain effective communication, teamwork, and consistency across all kitchen sections.
- Take responsibility for kitchen operations and team supervision in the absence of senior chefs.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef is mandatory, preferably within a premium, high-volume restaurant or established hospitality group.
- Strong culinary knowledge, technical skills, and experience managing different kitchen sections.
- Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop junior kitchen team members.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments while consistently maintaining high culinary standards.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of HACCP regulations, food safety, stock management, and kitchen operations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multicultural team.
- A hands-on leadership approach, positive attitude, and genuine passion for hospitality.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
