Job Description
Role Summary:
The Lead Engineer for Standardization & Methods is the "industrial translator" of the department. While the Lead Champion sets the global strategy, this role is responsible for the granular creation, documentation, and field-validation of the technical standards. They ensure that the "Standard Way of Working" is physically possible and technically sound at the station level.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Author and maintain the "Global Standard OEx Polices" to be applied in all procedures used in all operation process, ensuring they are synchronized with the RFQ-to-RFS value stream.
· Perform rigorous Time & Motion studies and Line Balancing to define the "Takt Time" and "Standard Work" sequences for high-complexity production lines.
· Translate high-level Lean/Six Sigma principles into specific, actionable instructions for the shop-floor workforce.
· Act as the primary technical analyst for the "Lean Gate" process, auditing new equipment designs for ergonomics, flow, and "Poka-Yoke" (error-proofing) compliance before they are commissioned.
· Define the global technical specifications for jigs, fixtures, and workstations to ensure consistency in quality and cycle times across different plants.
· Collaborate with R&D and Industrialization teams to ensure new product concepts are manufacturable within existing global standards.
· Conduct regular "Standard Work Audits" at the plant level to identify deviations between the "Global Technical Law" and actual shop-floor execution.
· Lead the technical resolution of non-conformances found during audits, working directly with local plant engineers to realign their methods with global standards.
· Ensure that the "Methods of Operation" in the ERP/SAP system (routings, labor times, and material consumption) perfectly match the physical reality of the production floor.
· Lead mid-to-high complexity Lean projects (Kaizen events) focused on reducing cycle times, scrap, and rework in bottleneck areas.
· Identify local "technical wins" or process innovations at specific plants and document them for the "Global Best Practice Library."
· Serve as the lead trainer for plant-level Methods Engineers and Team Leaders, elevating their technical competency in work measurement, process stabilization and process standardization.
· OEE Improvement in availability and performance through optimized methods.
· Reduction in the gap between "Theoretical Takt Time" and "Actual Cycle Time."
· Execute the Audit Compliance for the plants with focus in process that have "Methods & Standards" defined and aligned with the OEx police.
Qualification and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanic engineer, industrial engineer or a related field and MBA or related in Lean Manufacturing methodology and Lean 6 Sigma
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project control, lean manufacturing or process standardization.
