With the global growth of our brands, Pastry Commis I plays an essential role in the continued success of the Resort. Your responsibilities extend beyond creating high-quality pastries and desserts; you will contribute to developing strong working relationships with colleagues and supporting an exceptional culinary experience for our guests.
You will assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, and bakery items, ensuring high standards of quality, presentation, and hygiene. Working closely with the Pastry Chef de Partie and senior pastry team, you will support daily operations, maintain mise-en-place, follow food safety standards, and contribute to delivering exceptional culinary experiences while continuously developing your pastry skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and assist in baking pastries, desserts, breads, and other pastry items according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistency in quality, taste, and presentation of all pastry products.
- Support the Pastry Chef de Partie and senior team members in daily pastry production.
- Prepare mise-en-place and ensure all ingredients and equipment are ready for service.
- Assist in the preparation of seasonal desserts, special promotions, and menu items.
- Monitor stock levels and inform supervisors of any shortages or replenishment requirements.
- Ensure all ingredients are stored, labeled, and rotated correctly following FIFO procedures.
- Inspect ingredients for freshness and quality before use.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work station at all times.
- Follow food safety regulations, HACCP standards, and hygiene procedures.
- Assist with pastry production for banquets, events, and high-volume operations.
- Properly operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues.
- Minimize wastage through efficient preparation and portion control practices.
- Support inventory counts and stock-taking activities as required.
- Participate in training sessions, kitchen briefings, and team meetings to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with all kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Assist other kitchen sections when required and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Comply with all company policies, health and safety regulations, and sanitation standards.
A suitable candidate should have 1–2 years of experience in a pastry kitchen, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, or restaurant environment. The ideal candidate should have a basic knowledge of pastry and bakery preparation, strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for delivering high-quality products. Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills will be an advantage.
