The posting

As published on mckinsey.com. Pulled from the employer's site and shown as they wrote it.

You will collaborate with other colleagues (e.g., client development advisors, proposal strategists, designers, competitive insights specialists, etc.) to shape our thinking on proposal best practices and drive continuous improvement.

You’ll be part of McKinsey’s Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) team and will be based in Doha, Qatar. You will aid SHaPE leaders in delivering the client activation mission, supporting the overall client activation strategy and related priority proposal opportunities. You will collaborate with the Practice leadership and management teams, as well as colleagues from Finance, Risk, and Legal teams. You will collaborate with consultants leading priority proposals. Day-to-day, your team may consist of a Proposal Specialist and Proposal Manager.

Alongside your alignment to SHaPE, you will be part of the Proposal Services path, a global community focused on growing our existing and new client relationships by enabling efficient and effective delivery of proposals. You will report to the regional Proposal Manager.

You will be a key member of the Proposal Squad for SHaPE EEMA, with a focus on Doha. You will support teams within SHaPE to co-create elements of distinctive proposals and associated supporting materials. Specifically, you will coordinate the proposal documents and process under the guidance of Proposal Managers/Specialists; create timely and high-quality proposal content; gather feedback and manage cadence of iterations and reviews with consultant teams.

You will build proposal development expertise and create content and thought leadership that can be used as best practices at the cell or global level, prepare templates, compliance matrices, close-out activities, and/or other administrative elements throughout proposal development based on submission requirements and maintain and populate proposal assets (playbooks, digital tools, templates, best-practice examples, reference cases).

Also, you will embed into consultant and proposal teams via an agile operating model to learn client context and create compelling proposal documents, materials, and experiences. Where applicable, you will perform research and quantitative/qualitative analysis (as assigned) to inform key hypotheses and insights and customize proposals for clients (e.g., interviews, secondary research); engage subject matter experts.

You will seek opportunities to bring the best of the firm’s broader capabilities and expertise into proposals, grow industry and sector knowledge during and outside proposals to help shape content proactively with relevant knowledge.

We work together with our clients to turn these ambitious goals into reality. The firm’s primary objective has remained constant over time: to serve senior leaders as their most trusted external advisor on critical issues facing their organizations. We have made a significant commitment to working across sectors (public, social, and private) to tackle the world's most pressing issues. With exceptional people in 65 countries, we combine global expertise and local insight to help create the change that truly matters.

The SHaPE Practice focuses on government entities, social sector institutions, private and statutory health insurers, hospitals, large physician groups, employers, and national health systems, on topics that will provide opportunities for our clients to achieve substantial, lasting improvement in their performance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of experience in a client services setting, with experience in one or more of: public sector proposals and procurement, client development, business development, proposal management, communications
  • Basic understanding of professional services client development
  • Proven project management skills
  • Strong conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Results-oriented; entrepreneurial and self-driven
  • Collaborative; able to build relationships and influence stakeholders across roles and levels
  • High professional and ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
  • Proficiency in using AI-enabled tools (e.g., generative AI, proposal automation, research platforms) to enhance proposal development, analyze public sector requirements, improve productivity, and support high-quality client deliverables, with a strong understanding of responsible and secure AI usage
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic, written and verbal (e.g., ability to synthesize and convey complex information clearly and compellingly)

You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.

In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we’ll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
