Restaurant General Manager

InterContinental Abu Dhabi is seeking an energetic, commercially driven, and guest-focused Restaurant General Manager to lead the operations of our vibrant, fast-paced Sports Bar. The ideal candidate will have a passion for dynamic dining and sports entertainment, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences while driving revenue and operational performance. A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you will mainly be responsible for:

• Oversee the daily operations of the Sports Bar, ensuring efficient service, smooth coordination, and consistent adherence to hotel standards.
• Lead, motivate, and develop the Food & Beverage team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and exceptional guest service.
• Ensure outstanding service standards across all guest interactions, creating a welcoming and energetic atmosphere during sporting events and regular service periods.
• Drive revenue growth through effective sales strategies, promotions, upselling initiatives, and engaging food and beverage offerings.
• Monitor financial performance, including revenue, profitability, labour costs, beverage costs, and operational expenses, to achieve business targets.
• Plan and coordinate live sports screenings, themed events, promotions, and special occasions to enhance guest engagement and maximise business opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with guests, recognise regular customers, and ensure a lively yet professional environment that encourages repeat visits.
• Handle guest feedback and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring effective service recovery and guest satisfaction.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to maintain menu quality, introduce appealing offerings, and respond to guest preferences.
• Oversee staff scheduling, manpower planning, and daily deployment to ensure adequate coverage during peak periods and major sporting events.
• Conduct team briefings, training sessions, and performance reviews to strengthen product knowledge, service delivery, and professional development.
• Monitor inventory, purchasing, stock control, and wastage, ensuring efficient cost management and responsible beverage handling.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety, licensing requirements, and hotel operating procedures.
• Maintain the Sports Bar's ambience, cleanliness, presentation, and entertainment facilities to provide an enjoyable guest experience.
• Analyse sales reports, guest feedback, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and business growth.
• Work closely with Sales and Marketing to develop promotional campaigns, attract new customers, and strengthen the Sports Bar's market presence.
• Ensure accurate billing, cash handling, financial reporting, and compliance with internal controls.
• Foster a positive and engaging working environment where colleagues are motivated to deliver their best performance.

What we need from you:

• Previous experience as a Restaurant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, or in a similar leadership role within a busy restaurant, sports bar, or high-volume Food & Beverage operation.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to drive revenue, manage budgets, control costs, and achieve financial targets.
• Excellent knowledge of food and beverage operations, bar service, guest engagement, and service standards.
• Experience planning promotions, entertainment activities, or major sporting event operations is an advantage.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities to increase sales and guest loyalty.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain composed, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities during busy service periods.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and relevant operational requirements.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• A professional appearance, energetic personality, and genuine passion for hospitality and sports entertainment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and major sporting events.
