Senior Communications Manager

The Communication Manager is responsible for owning and shaping Badael’s external narrative, ensuring timely, accurate, and controlled communication across media and public channels. The role acts as the first line of response during reputational or operational incidents, managing media engagement, holding statements, and spokesperson readiness, while safeguarding message consistency and leadership positioning.

Strategy

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the Public Affairs’ strategy, ensuring that it is translated into annual business and operational plans for the section.
• Formulate and monitor the effective implementation of the section strategy and relevant tactics, in line with the department and division overall strategy, ensuring that the organization’s vision, mission, and strategy are properly cascaded down to the different elements of section.

Budget and Financial Monitoring

• Provide inputs and support the preparation, consolidation and monitoring of the annual budget of the department in coordination with the Department Head and the finance team.

Common Accountabilities

• Supervise operational excellence improvement initiatives and motivate employees to constantly identify areas for improvement on systems, processes and practices taking into account international leading practices, in order to continuously enhance the organizational effectiveness and business performance.
• Drive the development and oversee the implementation of policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls within the section in order to ensure that all activities within the section are conducted in line with any relevant compliance, risk, audit, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.

People Management

• Provide strategic direction to the direct reporting roles, guide, set priorities and objectives that will be cascaded to the lower levels, while managing their performance, and providing ongoing support and feedback, to ensure the achievement of the short- and long-term business goals.
• Coordinate the activities of the direct reporting roles to ensure that all operational plans are carried out efficiently, in line with the annual organizational targets, policies and procedures.
• Oversee the successful implementation of the talent management related activities for the Section (e.g. PMS, trainings, etc.), providing inputs to the Human Capital and approvals as required (e.g. annual leaves, etc.).

External Narrative Governance

• Define and oversee the external narrative architecture, ensuring alignment with Badael’s strategic priorities, positioning, and evolving business context.
• Establish clear principles and guardrails governing how the organization communicates across external channels.
• Ensure consistency and coherence of messaging across all functions and leadership layers.

Crisis Communication Leadership

• Design and institutionalize a structured crisis communication framework, including escalation protocols, decision rights, and response timelines.
• Act as the designated first escalation layer during incidents, ensuring appropriate framing before executive involvement.
• Oversee the development of standardized holding statement approaches and response playbooks.

Media Strategy & Positioning

• Set the strategic direction for media engagement, balancing proactive positioning with reactive response management.
• Define criteria for media prioritization, engagement models, and reputational risk thresholds.
• Oversee agency performance and ensure alignment with Badael’s communication standards.

Spokesperson Governance & Executive Enablement

• Establish a structured spokesperson model, defining roles, responsibilities, and representation boundaries.
• Oversee executive communication readiness frameworks, ensuring leadership alignment on key messages and tone.
• Ensure disciplined and consistent executive positioning across all public engagements.

Reputation Risk Oversight

• Defining and monitoring key reputational risk indicators linked to media exposure and public perception.
• Ensure early identification of narrative risks and oversee mitigation strategies at an organizational level.
• Provide strategic counsel to leadership on communication implications of business decisions.

Cross-Functional Alignment

• Ensure alignment between communications, legal, HR, and business functions on sensitive or high-impact messaging.
• Act as the central authority for validating external communication in critical or ambiguous situations.
• Drive integration of communication considerations into broader organizational decision-making
