The role acts as a first line of technical support for vibration-related issues and supports both client teams and Oceaneering's specialist engineering team, which retains overall ownership of the programme. It combines practical field investigation and data acquisition with engineering assessment and interpretation to identify, assess and help manage vibration-related risks affecting machinery, pipework and structures.
Responsibilities
Site delivery, Investigation and Technical Support
Execute vibration monitoring, dynamic stress measurement and specialist investigation activities on operating assets.
Undertake vibration surveys and investigations on rotating equipment, pipework, structures and process systems.
Perform troubleshooting to identify vibration mechanisms, integrity threats and potential root causes.
Conduct vibration monitoring, strain gauging, dynamic stress measurement, Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) studies and other specialist field measurements.
Provide first-line technical assessment of abnormal conditions and emerging concerns, ensuring appropriate review and escalation.
Support client operational, engineering and integrity teams in understanding asset behaviour and monitoring results.
Provide field observations, measurement data and technical input to Oceaneering engineering teams, supporting programme delivery and follow-up actions.
Contribute to the planning and refinement of monitoring, inspection and mitigation activities without being the primary owner of the overall programme.
Engineering Assessment & Reporting.
Analyse vibration, strain, pulsation and operating data to evaluate equipment and system performance, reliability and integrity.
Assess Flow Induced Vibration (FIV), Acoustic Induced Vibration (AIV), resonance, mechanical excitation and vibration-induced fatigue.
Apply recognised engineering methods, relevant codes and industry guidance to assess risk and develop practical recommendations.
Support fatigue, integrity and reliability assessments where vibration-related loading may be a contributing factor.
Prepare clear and concise technical reports, presentations and assessment records.
Participate in technical reviews, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of monitoring and assessment methods.
Technical Knowledge- The successful candidate should have practical knowledge and experience across a number of the following areas:
• Acoustic Induced Vibration (AIV)
• Dynamic stress measurement and strain gauging
• Operational Deflection Shape (ODS) analysis
• Flow Induced Vibration (FIV)
• Condition monitoring and data acquisition systems
• Structural vibration and resonance
• Fatigue assessment and mechanical integrity principles
• Modal testing and dynamic response assessment
