Stewarding Team Leader

Job Summary

The Stewarding Team Leader supports the daily operation of the Stewarding Department, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, hygiene, and operational support are consistently maintained in line with Rosewood brand standards and the expectations of an ultra-luxury environment. A strong operational presence is maintained across kitchens, restaurants, bars, meeting and events operations, and back-of-house areas to ensure efficient stewarding support throughout all service periods.

Working closely with the Stewarding Manager, Culinary, Food & Beverage, and other departments, the Stewarding Team Leader supervises daily stewarding activities, supports associate development, and ensures all cleaning, sanitation, and equipment handling procedures are executed with consistency and discipline. Accountability includes operational readiness, hygiene compliance, associate supervision, and maintaining a safe and organized working environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality:

• Maintain stewarding operations in line with Rosewood brand standards, Forbes standards, LQA requirements, HACCP, and local health regulations.
• Supervise daily stewarding operations across kitchens, restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, and back-of-house areas.
• Ensure all operating equipment, crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware, and kitchen utensils are cleaned, sanitized, and stored according to hotel standards.
• Monitor dishwashing operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and hygiene standards are consistently achieved.
• Ensure all stewarding areas remain clean, organized, and operationally ready throughout all shifts.
• Conduct regular inspections of stewarding areas and report maintenance or hygiene concerns promptly.
• Ensure cleaning schedules and deep cleaning tasks are completed according to departmental standards.
• Supervise waste disposal, recycling, and refuse handling procedures.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of cleaning chemicals.
• Coordinate equipment distribution to restaurants, kitchens, bars, and meeting and events operations.
• Ensure sufficient operating equipment is available to support daily operations.
• Support banquet and special event setups and breakdowns as required.
• Monitor associate performance and provide guidance to ensure operational consistency.

Financial:

• Support efficient use of departmental resources and operating equipment.
• Minimize breakage, loss, and unnecessary waste.
• Monitor chemical usage and report excessive consumption.
• Assist with inventory counts of operating equipment and stewarding supplies.
• Maintain proper storage and organization of stewarding inventory.
• Ensure responsible use of equipment and cleaning materials.
• Support cost control initiatives through efficient daily operations.
• Report equipment shortages or replacement requirements to the Stewarding Manager.

Leading:

• Supervise stewarding associates during daily operations.
• Allocate daily tasks and ensure completion according to operational priorities.
• Conduct daily shift briefings and communicate departmental expectations.
• Support onboarding and training of new associates.
• Coach associates on cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, HACCP requirements, and safe working practices.
• Monitor grooming, attendance, punctuality, and professional standards.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and operational discipline.
• Provide continuous coaching and support to improve associate performance.
• Report performance concerns, disciplinary matters, and training needs to the Stewarding Manager.
• Foster teamwork between Stewarding, Culinary, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and Housekeeping.
• Support operational planning to ensure adequate staffing throughout all shifts.
• Assist in resolving operational challenges efficiently and professionally.

Standard Responsibilities:

• Maintain a strong operational presence throughout all service periods.
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, HACCP, and safety standards.
• Follow all emergency procedures and operational protocols.
• Protect the reputation of the hotel through professional and responsible conduct.

• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and hotel procedures.

• Ensure incidents and accidents are reported in line with procedures.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.
• Promote a safe environment for guests and associates
