External Job Description
Pulse Nova, the strategic joint venture between EDGE and Indra, is developing advanced radar technologies that deliver superior sensing, tracking, and situational awareness capabilities for modern defense applications. We are seeking an experienced Radar Transmit and Receive Module (TRM) Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, and qualification of high-performance transmit/receive modules for phased-array radar systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and development of transmit and receive modules for phased-array radar architectures, ensuring compliance with system performance requirements.
- Define TRM electrical and functional architectures, including gain distribution, phase/amplitude control, power amplification, low-noise reception, switching, and protection functions.
- Perform detailed trade-off analyses on power, efficiency, noise figure, linearity, thermal behavior, reliability, and packaging constraints.
- Coordinate simulation, prototyping, laboratory validation, and environmental qualification of TRM designs across development milestones.
- Work with antenna, RF, mechanical, thermal, power, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless module integration into array assemblies.
- Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for performance deviations, failures, yield issues, or reliability concerns observed during testing or production.
- Support supplier interaction, component evaluation, obsolescence mitigation, and configuration management for critical RF and microwave devices.
- Provide technical leadership in reviews, verification strategies, and roadmap activities related to phased-array transmit/receive technologies.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Microwave Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in RF / microwave design, with direct exposure to T/R modules, AESA architectures, or phased-array subsystems.
- Strong understanding of transmit and receive chains, phase and gain control, low-noise design, high-power amplification, switching, and control interfaces.
- Experience with RF simulation, laboratory characterization, and troubleshooting of integrated microwave assemblies.
- Knowledge of thermal management, packaging, reliability, and manufacturability considerations in dense high-frequency modules.
- Ability to lead complex technical workstreams and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces in demanding development programs.
- Prior experience in radar or defense electronics programs is highly desirable.
