Job Summary
The Editorial Designer at ThurayaBiz plays a key role in developing visually engaging editorial and publication materials that support the organization’s branding, communication, and marketing objectives. Reporting to the Creative/Design Lead, this position involves designing publications, reports, presentations, brochures, and other editorial materials while ensuring strong visual hierarchy, readability, consistency, and brand alignment.
Key Responsibilities and Roles:
1) Editorial Design & Layout:
- Develop layouts for reports, brochures, magazines, presentations, proposals, and other publications.
- Create visually engaging page compositions that balance text, images, graphics, and other elements.
- Translate written content and creative concepts into clear and compelling visual layouts.
- Ensure designs are optimized for both digital and print formats.
2) Typography & Visual Identity
- Apply appropriate typography, grids, spacing, colors, and visual hierarchy.
- Maintain consistency with approved brand guidelines across editorial materials.
- Ensure publications communicate information clearly and effectively.
- Develop and maintain editorial design templates and systems.
3) Collaboration and Project Support
- Work closely with content writers, editors, marketing, and project management teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand publication requirements and objectives.
- Participate in creative brainstorming and contribute design solutions.
- Coordinate with printers and external suppliers when required.
4) Quality Assurance & Production
- Review layouts and final artwork to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare print-ready and digital-ready files according to technical specifications.
- Conduct quality checks on typography, images, alignment, and content placement.
- Maintain organized design files, templates, and publication assets.
5) Innovation & Continuous Learning
- Stay updated with editorial design trends, typography, publishing technologies, and visual communication practices.
- Explore innovative layouts and presentation techniques.
- Propose creative solutions to improve readability and audience engagement.
- Participate in training and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Editorial Design, Visual Communication, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in graphic design, publishing, or Adobe Creative Cloud.
- 2–4 years of experience in editorial, graphic, publication, or visual design.
- Proven portfolio demonstrating strong editorial and layout design projects.
Skills & Competencies (Nice to Have)
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Strong knowledge of typography, layout, grids, and visual hierarchy.
