Job Purpose
Join our Airport Services team, where you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless airport operations and delivering world-class service to our customers. The team is responsible for a wide range of critical functions, both “above and below the wing,” to keep our busy airport running efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
If you are passionate about customer service, operational excellence, and working in a fast-paced environment, we invite you to apply and contribute to the success of Emirates Group. As the world’s largest international airline, our airport operations are among the most dynamic and rewarding, offering exciting opportunities to be part of a team that keeps the world moving.
As the Ground Dispatch Specialist and as the most senior Emirates representative at the aircraft during turnaround, you will lead and direct all operational activities required to achieve safe, compliant, and punctual departures whilst maximising payload.
In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, government authorities, and service providers, ensuring operational compliance and effective turnaround performance.
In addition, you will provide specialist operational support through complex flight management, operational assurance, the coaching and training of Dispatchers, and participation in disruption and emergency response activities.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage flight turnaround operations, making timely operational decisions on passenger, baggage, cargo, and ensure aircraft readiness to achieve safe, compliant, and on time departures in accordance with the Precision Time Schedule (PTS).
- Ensure safe and compliant ground operations by monitoring activities conducted by service providers and stakeholders, intervening in unsafe practices, reporting safety concerns, and supporting risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
- Reconcile all passenger, baggage, and cargo figures to ensure the integrity of the Weight & Balance process and the accuracy of all associated flight documentation. Validate that all operational figures are correctly accounted for prior to aircraft departure, with authority to delay aircraft release where discrepancies exist or safety and compliance requirements are not met.
- Provide functional leadership during aircraft turnaround operations, directing operational priorities and coordinating all stakeholders involved in flight departure activities. Lead operational briefings, assess operational constraints and risks, resolve complex operational issues, and make timely decisions to support safe, compliant, efficient, and on-time departures.
- Maintain continuous communication with the Network Control Centre (NCC), Airport Services stakeholders, and service providers to ensure visibility of flight progress, support informed operational decision-making, manage operational disruptions and irregularities, and contribute to business continuity and recovery activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Act as the Ground Dispatch subject matter expert for complex operations. Conduct operational assurance and compliance activities, coach and develop Dispatchers, and identify opportunities to enhance operational performance, safety, compliance, and efficiency.
- Support operational recovery during disruptions, emergencies, and contingency events. Participate and lead Go Team deployments and support business continuity, emergency response, and special operational activities as required.
Qualification
To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Hold a completed Degree or Honours qualification (12+3 or equivalent).
- Bring a minimum of 5 years' experience in Airport Operations or a relevant Airline or Ground Handling environment at a major international airport, including exposure to both above-wing and below-wing operations.
- Possess experience in one or more core operational areas, including Cargo, Load Control, Passenger Services, or Ramp Operations.
- Have successfully completed Emirates Weight and Balance training or hold an equivalent external qualification.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
- Exhibit strong leadership capability, including experience coaching, mentoring, or developing colleagues in either a formal or informal capacity.
- Hold a valid UAE driving licence (for internal applicants) or a valid driving licence from your home country that is eligible for conversion in the UAE (for external applicants).
