Logistics Team Leader

Job Purpose

As the Logistics Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of logistics professionals to ensure the efficient and effective management of logistics operations. Your role involves overseeing daily logistics activities, coordinating transportation, optimizing freight routes, and ensuring timely delivery of goods while providing guidance and support to team members.

Main Job Responsibilities

1. Supervise and lead a team of logistics professionals, including assigning tasks, providing training and development, and conducting performance evaluations.
2. Coordinate transportation and logistics activities, including scheduling shipments, arranging pickups and deliveries, and managing freight documentation.
3. Optimize freight routes and transportation modes to minimize transit times and transportation costs while maximizing efficiency.
4. Track shipments and monitor delivery progress to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers.
5. Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to coordinate shipping schedules and resolve any issues or delays.
6. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards for all shipments, prioritizing the safety of goods and personnel.
7. Assist with the negotiation of shipping rates, contracts, and service agreements with carriers and freight forwarders.
8. Provide guidance and support to team members, including resolving logistics-related issues, providing technical expertise, and fostering a positive work environment.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, warehouse operations, and customer service, to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
10. Prepare and maintain accurate records of shipments, including shipping documents, invoices, and delivery receipts.
11. Assist with the resolution of logistics-related issues or customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
12. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in logistics operations and implement appropriate solutions.
13. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to logistics and supply chain management.
14. Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills in logistics operations and leadership.
15. Support the implementation of technology solutions, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and freight tracking software, to enhance visibility and tracking of shipments.
