We are Pramac, a Generac Company, leading the evolution to more resilient, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.
Established in 1966, we have always evolved, expanding our product portfolio and becoming the global benchmark for the production of generators and warehouse material handling equipment. Our diverse business lines ensure the company is a leading player in a wide variety of global markets.
The Purchasing Officer supports the Supply Chain Supervisor in sourcing and purchasing for the Bahrain generator factory and the wider business. The role turns approved purchase requests into purchase orders and follows each order through to delivery, supplier payment and PO closure in the ERP system. It also supports sourcing and supplier onboarding as GJG moves from a small number of overseas sources to local suppliers and direct buying from component manufacturers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Purchasing (Purchase Request to PO Closure)
- Receive purchase requests from Production, Service, Engineering and other departments, and check that they are complete and approved before processing.
- Create purchase orders in the ERP system, including raw material POs for production, and route them for approval in line with the Schedule of Authority.
- Send approved purchase orders to suppliers and obtain order confirmation of price, quantity, delivery date and terms.
- Follow up with suppliers and internal stakeholders until the material or service is delivered, and coordinate inbound shipments with Logistics.
- Resolve delivery issues such as shortages, partial deliveries, damage, and price or quantity differences with the supplier and the receiving team.
- Follow up with Finance on supplier invoices and payments so suppliers are paid on time, and close completed purchase orders in the ERP system.
Sourcing Support (as assigned by the Supply Chain Supervisor)
- Prepare requests for quotation, collect and compare quotations, and recommend suppliers for raw material, components, services, tools and facility needs.
- Support the development of local suppliers and purchasing from component manufacturers (engines, alternators, controllers and others), including NDAs, supplier documents and follow-up.
- Track supplier prices, lead times and delivery performance, and keep supplier and price records up to date.
- Final selection of direct material suppliers follows the supplier selection procedure (PRC-00780) and the Schedule of Authority.
Supplier Management
- Onboard new suppliers: collect the required documents, including acceptance of the Supplier Code of Conduct, NDA where needed, company and bank documents.
- Create supplier accounts in the ERP system only after approval in line with the Schedule of Authority and a cleared Amber Road screening.
- Maintain supplier master data. Any change to supplier bank details is verified with Finance before use.
- Prepare and follow up on supplier credit application forms.
Reporting, Records and Compliance
- Maintain complete purchase order files and purchasing records, in line with document control and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Prepare monthly purchasing reports, including open purchase orders, overdue deliveries and overdue supplier payments.
- Comply with the Schedule of Authority, the Supplier Code of Conduct and Sustainable Procurement Policy, and company purchasing procedures, and declare any conflict of interest.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance and Sales to support business objectives.
Backup Responsibility
- Cover customer order processing during the leave of the Sales Department order coordinator, as agreed between the Supply Chain and Sales Departments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Hands-on purchasing experience in an ERP system.
- Strong Excel and numerical skills.
- Working knowledge of Incoterms, the RFQ and quotation comparison process, and basic negotiation.
- Fluent in English and Arabic, spoken and written, to work with local and international suppliers.
