About the Role

As a Senior Crude Oil Research Analyst based in Dubai, you will serve as Kpler’s regional market authority on Middle Eastern physical crude dynamics, focusing on refinery activity, product yields, and downstream trade flows. Operating at the crossroads of physical cargo tracking and fundamental market analysis, you will translate complex refinery runs and crude movements into clear, actionable intelligence. In this high-impact individual contributor role, your insights will directly empower global commodity traders and market participants to navigate physical trading, arbitrage, and downstream market shifts with confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver in-depth market intelligence: Conduct rigorous research on Middle Eastern physical crude and refined product markets, focusing on refinery runs, crude throughput, planned maintenance, and physical trade flows.
  • Advance supply, demand, and refinery modeling: Maintain and refine proprietary supply-demand and refinery activity models, ensuring high data integrity compared against international benchmarks such as JODI, EIA, and IEA.
  • Strengthen OSP advisory capabilities: Spearhead analysis and client-facing insights around Middle Eastern Official Selling Prices (OSPs), pricing mechanisms, and crude grade differentials.
  • Publish timely market commentary: Author high-quality research reports, concise market briefs, and ad-hoc commentary highlighting Kpler’s proprietary cargo and inventory data for global clients.
  • Represent Kpler across the industry: Present regional market insights during client briefings, industry webinars, and specialist media engagements to expand Kpler’s thought leadership across the Middle East.
  • Drive commercial and product innovation: Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Product Engineering teams to support pre-sales discussions, demonstrate data value, and co-develop next-generation analytics offerings.

Experience & Background:

  • 5+ years of prior professional experience analysing crude oil markets, with deep familiarity with refinery operations, trading dynamics, and physical trade flows.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or technical discipline (Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or Energy Management).
  • Proven track record of independently researching, analysing, and writing clear, data-driven market commentary and insights.
  • Strong data analytics and quantitative skills, with demonstrated experience manipulating complex datasets to assess supply, demand, and refinery margins.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical market context to clients, media, and cross-functional teams.
  • Nice-to-haves:

  • Practical experience using Kpler cargo-tracking data, AIS platforms, or similar energy intelligence tools.
  • Working familiarity with data querying and analytical tools such as SQL, Python, or R.
  • Direct familiarity with Middle Eastern crude pricing benchmarks, national oil company (NOC) pricing structures, and regional refinery configurations.
