Purpose:
To support the smooth operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across all kitchen and stewarding areas. The Kitchen Steward plays a key role in ensuring equipment, utensils, and working areas are clean, organised, and ready for service, while supporting kitchen operations, events, and functions in line with Dubai Golf standards.
Scope of Position:
Kitchen Cleanliness & Hygiene - Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Equipment & Area Maintenance - Ensures kitchen equipment, wash areas, and storage spaces are cleaned, maintained, and reported for any defects or breakdowns.
Operational Support - Supports chefs and kitchen operations during service and peak periods by ensuring continuous supply of clean equipment and organised storage.
Event & Function Support - Assists with stewarding requirements for banquets, events, and functions including setup, breakdown, and equipment handling.
Safety & Compliance - Ensures compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and chemical handling procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Main Duties:

Kitchen Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Carry out daily cleaning duties as assigned by the Senior Steward or Supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, drains, workstations, wash areas, and waste disposal zones.
- Wash, clean, sanitise, and store kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, and service items correctly.
- Ensure all cleaning is carried out according to hygiene standards and food safety regulations.
Equipment & Area Maintenance
- Use the correct cleaning chemicals and cleaning tools for specific equipment and surfaces.
- Follow correct dilution, usage, and storage procedures for all cleaning chemicals.
- Monitor cleanliness and basic condition of dishwashers, sinks, and wash areas.
- Immediately report any damaged, faulty, or malfunctioning equipment to the Senior Steward or Supervisor.
Operational Support
- Ensure a continuous supply of clean utensils and equipment to support kitchen service.
- Assist chefs during busy service periods by organising stores, moving equipment, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Maintain orderly storage of kitchen items to prevent cross-contamination and improve efficiency.
- Assist with unloading, sorting, and storing kitchen supplies and deliveries when required.
Event & Function Support
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of stewarding equipment for functions, banquets, and special events.
- Transport, clean, and organise china, glassware, cutlery, and kitchen equipment for events.
- Support function operations by ensuring equipment is clean, available, and correctly positioned.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
- Take and record temperature readings of coolers, freezers, and refrigerators as instructed.
- Ensure proper waste management and disposal procedures are followed.
- Comply with instructions given by Senior Steward, Stewarding Supervisor, and Management.
2. Ancillary Duties:
In line with the Club’s strive for continuous improvement, you may be requested to participate in various extra activities contributing towards individuals and organizational growth.
Represent the department or a group in various committees, such as the Staff Committee, Green Theme (environmental), Food Committee, Sport Committee, or projects. Be trained as a Fire Marshall or First Aider.
3. Quality Responsibilities:

4. IT Security Awareness:
- Read, Understand, and comply with all applicable Information Security Policies and Procedures of wasl DG.
- Co-operate, co-ordinate and share information with Internal/External Audit teams as appropriate and applicable.
- Attend Information Security Awareness sessions conducted by the wasl IT Department.
- All Information Security breaches, events, weaknesses, incidents (actual or suspected breaches) shall be immediately reported to the IT Service Desk.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
SUPPORTIVE SKILLS
Grade VII education or above
Good teamwork and cooperation
Previous experience in a similar stewarding role in a reputable establishment
High attention to cleanliness, detail, and organisation
Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and hygiene standards
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience handling kitchen equipment, china, glassware, and banquet items
Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities
Physically fit to handle cleaning and manual tasks
Positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork mindset
